Hey Revolutionzariez! Today’s post is part B to our previous blog about, “What do you do when the magic stops?” However, today’s blog/conversation is much deeper and really explores the relationship between magic and mediocrity…

So – Let’s get started with what it means to be “entranced” by something…

In order to be entranced, you’re more than mesmerized, you’re literally drawn into the thing that’s caught your attention and you can’t look away. It could be a person, a company, a non-profit organization – whatever the case, you’re drawn into learning more, you’re constantly looking at it, and/or you’re unable to stop thinking about it.

People who are entranced by something, typically don’t think or act with as much clarity or discernment as you might normally would under normal circumstances. In many ways, when you’re entranced, you’re unable to “walk away” or let it be. And it doesn’t mean you’re stupid. It just means the objections you’d normally have in a similar situation, simply don’t exist anymore.

Now, when it comes to something “mediocre” – most people would agree it’s just “average”… but I would argue it’s actually worse than that. “Average” might refer to a group of people who tried to do something difficult, but didn’t perform as well as they thought they might – Whereas, “mediocre” is in the effort itself. If you put forth a “mediocre” effort – your result is likely to be “average”. However, it doesn’t necessarily work the other way around.

If you’re mediocre at something, it means you haven’t put forth a strong effort to achieve whatever it is that you’re looking to achieve. It’s bland. You’re not really all-in, and you’re not really completely out… You’re just “blah”…. hanging out in mediocrity.

The truth is, it’s impossible to entrance someone when you’re average. In order to entrance someone, you have to be so far beyond mediocrity that they’re literally stunned by what they see! You “entrance” others when you’re at your very best – and that’s where the magic happens.

The question is, where are you currently entranced? And what do you have that’s “entrancing” to others?

If you’re not sure about the areas in which you are capable of entrancing others, that’s where personal development comes into play. Do other people find you compelling? Are you able to cause people to “buy” whatever it is that you’re selling (literally or figuratively)?

And to take things a little bit deeper – are you certain that you have pure motives when it comes to the way in which you entrance someone else? Meaning, whatever gift you have that’s alluring to others, are you using your gift to help others? Or are you manipulating them for selfish purposes… ?

Once you determine the area where you’re most entrancing, and that your motives are pure – then it’s time to ask yourself, where are you mediocre? And admittedly, for all of us, that’s a harder question…

When you know who you are at your core, it’ll be EASY to see what’s mediocre in your life. In fact, clearly seeing the mediocrity in your life won’t be painful at all!

For example, if you’re a “mother first” woman (see previous blog explaining that definition here) and you know your gift-mix is NOT in business, it won’t bother you at all to know that you’re “mediocre” in your career life. The only reason you should be bothered by a mediocre area in your life, is if YOU KNOW you’re not giving as much effort as you should – You’re falling short in an area where you know you should be succeeding much more so than where you currently are.

If you’re not accepting yourself for who you are at your core (mother first, career first or relationship first), and if you are not allowing yourself to be entrancing at your core level – then you’re going to feel like you’re mediocre in EVERY area of your life. In order to be true to yourself, you need to focus on succeeding (and becoming entrancing) at your core level first, and then branch out to other areas, should you so choose (and it’s possible that you won’t wish to do so!).

Whew! Much more to come on these topics – And in case you missed part one of this blog series, you can check it out here… Further – If you’d like to see our video involving these topics (with a bit more banter, giggles and additional discussion), just click here…

In the meantime, we hope you take a few moments to explore your who you are at your core – and that you begin to ‘lean into’ the most entrancing qualities about you.
